Theme park news: fall is just around the corner at Walt Disney World

Posted on August 2, 2025 By malu

August has officially arrived, which means Halloween is just around the corner for theme parks like Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. The summer weather is nowhere near slowing down, but that won’t stop the pumpkins from appearing on Main Street, U.S.A. any day. In the meantime, it has been another busy week in theme park news, which focuses a lot on the upcoming Halloween offerings at Disney World. There’s a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks and months, including the maiden voyage of Disney Cruise Line’s new ship, the Disney Destiny — also featured in this week’s roundup! Let’s dive in and catch up on the latest theme park news stories.

Halloween layover coming to fan favorite bar in Disney Springs

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is often cited as one of the best spots in Disney Springs, if not all of Walt Disney World, to grab a drink and a bite to eat. Themed after the Indiana Jones film franchise, Jock Lindsey’s is also known for its annual holiday overlay, Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar.

This year, a spooky new twist is coming to Jock Lindsey’s. It was announced this week that Jock Lindsey’s Halloween Bar will debut at Disney Springs starting on August 19.

The announcement came on social media this week and included a first look at some of the “eeire eats” that will be added to the menu for a limited time.

Disney Cruise Line reveals new details from ‘Hercules’ stage show coming to Disney Destiny

Disney Cruise Line’s next ship, the Disney Destiny, has its maiden voyage this November. Leading up to the debut of the new vessel, Disney has peeled the curtain back on many of the projects currently underway to bring this ship to life, including some of the on-board entertainment. The headline stage show that passengers will be able to check out on their Disney Destiny sailing is ‘Hercules,’ based on the 1997 animated film.

This week, we got to take a look at more concept art that features the titans Hercules faces off with in the story. The titans themselves will be brought to life using puppetry.

Hercules will be prominently featured on the Disney Destiny, which brings the timeless theme of heroes and villains to the high seas. You’ll also be able to find Hercules-themed staterooms, a Royal Suite themed after the film, and a walk-up cafe called Café Megara located off the main hall.

Other Broadway-style productions aboard the Disney Destiny will include Frozen: A Musical Spectacular and Disney Seas the Adventure. The official maiden voyage of the Disney Destiny will be November 20, 2025.

Rapid-fire news roundup!

  • New this year at the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, Chefs de France in the France Pavilion will serve breakfast! A pre-paid breakfast buffet experience will be available on Fridays and Saturdays during the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, which runs from August 28 through November 22. Reservations will become available on August 12, 2025, for seatings starting September 5, 2025.
  • Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off this year on August 15 at Magic Kingdom. Ahead of the fan-favorite after hours party debut for 2025, Disney World released its annual Foodie Guide and merchandise preview. Start making those plans for what you want to eat (many of the items are exclusive to the party!).
  • Roughly one week after Magic Kingdom’s modified Annual Passholder reservation policy went into effect, Disney World has reversed course. Due to the anticipated demand for the debut of Disney Starlight, Annual Passholders were required to make reservations for Magic Kingdom, no matter when they entered the park (or they could book a reservation for a different park and then park hop to Magic Kingdom). Now, Passholders are back to the old policy: park reservations for Magic Kingdom are not required if entering after 2:00 PM, or if entertain at any time on Saturday and Sunday. Park Reservations for EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom are only required if visiting before 2:00 PM any day of the week.
